Hello, I'm Cherie
I am a qualified counsellor with several years of experience. I am an integrative counsellor which means I studied seven different styles of psychotherapy which enables me to be adaptable to find a way of working that fits your individual needs and problem.
I have worked in many different fields during my professional life and have 35 years of experience of working in caring roles. My counselling experience is broad, I have worked in a general counselling service with multiple presenting issues and for services who offer specific support. I have experience of working with people who are carers supporting a loved one at home and I have also completed extended training in loss and bereavement work with many years of experience working in a hospice and in a private practice setting.
Before I was a counsellor I was a registered nurse and a midwife which has broadened my counselling understanding on related issues, so if you are feeling distressed relating to pregnancy anxiety, birth trauma, parenting problems or post-natal depression I can help you work through your experiences. Ill health or changes in your physical health can impact on your mental health contributing to feelings of stress, anxiety or maybe depression. Talking about your physical health and how you feel can help you deal with the circumstances you're facing now. I also have experience of working with clients who have psychological distress in connection with living with chronic pain and the life changes it brings.
